The Fishing Tourism offers the possibility of know the fishing technologies and the traditional tools,of watching from close up the lacustrine ecosystem inhabitants, of enjoing the landscape beauties, of savouring the scients and the flavours of the culture based on the lake and its resources.

Fishing far from the most frequented places means enter into a habitat only the fisherman deeply knows in all its sides, from the depth morphology to the change of winds and streams, to biological rhytms and habits of the fishes, to the vegetal animal life that interacts with them.

Peculiar are also the working times. They take place mostly at sunset, when the fishing nets are laid, or at night, when the nets are taken back for arranging the tools and processing the catch.

The Ichthytourism Mella has indeed a workroom and you can see the main phases of the fishing processing.

The most famous production carried out is “Missoltino” (local fish)

The fresh shads are washed and salted; after 24 – 36 hours they are washed again and dried. Then they are packed all together into containers and pressed for about 4 months.

After this process the shads can be eaten, grilled or with “polenta”.

Besides the different species of lake fresh fish (whitefish, shad, perch, bleak, burbot, trout, eel, pike, roach, chub), it is possible to buy other fish specialities.

We recommend, for example, smoked fish, picked fish, “bottarga” of the lake, paté and “ravioli” stuffed with fish.

The proposals follow of course the seasonal trend of the fishing.
